Miss Emma is here!!!!
Well, I have seen heaven on earth! She is 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 21 inches long and she is incredibly beautiful! She is also soooo cuddly. A little snuggle bunny. Can you tell I’m in love! And now I have two sweethearts. My 29 month old grandson named Cole who opened my eyes to the grandparent world and to whom a sucker (no, not his Nana, a real lollipop) is the greatest thing in the world. And guess who supplies the suckers? Yes, you’re right. I have them in my pocketbook at his beck and call.
Also, I’m glad to see so many of you are working on the shrug. And all the shrugs I have seen are just incredible. I’ve seen them in organic cottons (yummy), alpaca (so soft) and other DK weight yarns. An added bonus is that this pattern looks great on everyone.
And I want to update you on new arrivals in the shop. We have received the 1824 cotton - 18stitches in 24 rows. A slightly nubby cotton that is wash and wear. Great for all those baby projects and I want everyone to remember that all baby yarns (i.e. all yarns that can be used for baby projects) are 30% off in August in honor of my Miss Emma.
We also have received in Shepherd’s Worsted and Helen’s Lace from Lorna’s Laces. Shepherd’s worsted is a 100% worsted weight super wash wool in some of the most popular colorways from Lorna’s Laces that knits up at 4 stitches per inch. While Helen’s Lace is a 50% silk, 50% wool blend that stitches up at 4 stitches per inch.
You also need to stop by and see the two yarns we have received in from Twisted Sisters. And you want to make sure you enter this URL correctly on the internet or you will find yourself at the web site for Twisted Sister – “the ironmen of rock and roll” just like yours truly. Boy talk about having a flashback to the 70s and 80s. But from Twisted Sisters Knitting we have Daktari,a 100% slubbed cotton knit on a size 6 – 8; and Zazu, a 100% extra fine merino wool. Boy, these yarns really rock man, like they are way cool, like they totally zoom me out. Uh oh, stayed too long on the band web site but you get my meaning.
I hope you get a chance to get into the shop and see these incredible yarns and take advantage of our baby yarn sale. Before long I’ll even have a picture of Miss Emma. Did I mention how beautiful she is?
Peggy
And now for our August treat!
Hello everyone,
Well, first of all let me say “thank you, thank you” for all of you who came by the store and helped me whittle away some of my extra inventory. I really appreciate every one of you and it was also great to be able to see so many of you. Of course, you know me. I have a couple of extra cubbies and that just won’t do so I have a very special shipment coming into the shop from Twisted Sisters Yarn. Some beautiful hand dyed yarns that I think you’ll really love. We are also restocking our Lantern Moon needles (the Cadillac of needles).
You may or may not know that I have one grandson Cole and also an almost granddaughter that will arrive in August. I just love babies, don’t you? So to celebrate my granddaughter’s birth day I am putting all of our baby yarn on sale for the entire month of August. This sale will be for 30% off all of our baby yarn and it begins this Friday, August 1st. Come by the shop and look over what we have in stock for all of our wee ones.
thanks for listening,
Peggy
p.s. I almost forgot to tell all of our crocheters that we have started an open crochet night at the shop. That is every Wednesday night from 6:30-8:30 with Judy (our resident crochet expert). We welcome everyone from expert to beginner. Come by, sit and just relax as you crochet to your heart’s content.
Santa’s workshop
Hello,
Well, here I am back from Nashville and I have to say that if you ever get the chance to go to the Grand Old Opry then you better go. Holy mackeral! I had the greatest time at the Opry. Maybe it was the people who performed, but maybe it was being in the building with it full of good old rednecks just like me. But it was so cooooool!!!
Anyway, back to the real world. I learned a lot that can help me and the church and am back in town just in time for Santa’s workshop that begins tomorrow at the shop. We have a lot of things on sale-
Books on the sale floor 40% off, Bags and baskets on the sales floor 50% off, Red and green yarn in any shade or from any company 20% off, and the part that really has people questioning my sanity the Big Bag Sale. The bag sale is really taking a lot of space at the shop. Bags fill the couch and the floor just waiting for someone to buy them and take them home. The bag sale is in addition to the red and green yarn that is on sale. The bag sale includes yarns from Cascade, Berroco, Sublime and Debbie Bliss in addition to others. Stop by the shop and see what we have available.
also, make sure you stop in on Saturday at 11 am and 1 pm for the Santa’s workshop that will have Christmas crafts on display and patterns available for you.
Thanks and see you there.
Peggy
Hello from Nashville!
Well, I am writing this tonight in my room at the Opryland hotel in Nashville, TN. Many of you know that I work full time at First Presbyterian Church in High Point and have my certification in church business administration. I bet you didn’t know that church business administrators could get certified. ; ) (wink)
Well, I have my certification and every year the national association has a convention where I can get education and new ideas to help me in my job at the church. I am really blessed to work for a church that supports my continued education. In fact they also paid for my education at Union Theological Seminary to get my certification in the first place.
Not only do I get educated this week, but we are going to the Grand Old Opry on Tuesday night and I actually get to see “Charlie Daniels”. I’m already practicing “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
So I’m away from the shop all week, but I wanted to remind you of the Santa’s Workshop to be held the last full week in July. Check the web site for details, but we will have another BAG SALE and KIT SALE in addition to other items will also be on sale. Well, got to go. I’m actually knitting on my baby blanket tonight.
See you soon,
Peggy
Closed on the 4th
Well, leave it to me to forget an important piece of info for all of our customers. In observance of the Independence Day holiday the shop will be closed on Friday, July 4th. But, we will re-open on Saturday July 5th at 10 am. (I would have said “bright eyed and bushy tailed, but you know I’m not a morning person). But I’ll be thrilled to see all my customers. Just drop by the shop and pick up a project to knit or crochet! When your husband goes to Home Depot or Lowe’s just have him drop you by the shop! Save your gas!
Love ya,
Peggy K
Do I Hear “Jingle Bells”??????
Ahhhhh!! So much to tell you! And so little time to type!
Well, let me begin with the big news! I am happy to announce that the shop will have a Santa’s Workshop on Saturday, July 26! All day long we will be celebrating Christmas (who wouldn’t like to have at least one little Arctic blast right now) and gifts and knitting and crocheting and having fun and …..well you get the picture. Our incredible teachers are working like elves (get it – elves) to put together some small, useful and beautiful projects that can be completed or close to it in an hour to hour and a half. The special thing about the Santa’s Workshop is that the classes will be FREE! (yes, I said FREE!). Not only will the classes be FREE (there’s that word again), but we the class materials will also be FREE. We will be finalizing the class schedules in the near future and we will have to ask that you pre-register for the classes (so we know how many kits to have ready). More detail will be available to you soon.
Also, I just want to announce that even though our Santa’s Workshop isn’t until Saturday we will revisit our “Bag Sale” on current discontinued yarns at 50% off regular retail price for the Thursday through Saturday during last week in July. That’s July 24 – 26. Heck, we may even throw in some new yarns that aren’t currently on sale and bag them up.
And, to help you plan your Christmas we will have select knitting bags at 50% off so you have some place to store all your Christmas projects.
And ….. (it just keeps getting better doesn’t it) all of our books will be 35% off. Pick out special books for all of your knitting friends. They’ll be glad you did!
I may even put together a few more surprises for those three days. Gosh, but I love Christmas!
All this information is going up on the blog before we even send the info by newsletter. Now, aren’t you glad you read the blog. And, I haven’t even gotten to all the goodies I ordered while I was in Columbus.
Well, I’ll post again soon with info on the new arrivals we’ll soon see.
Love ya,
Peggy K
Fashion Forward
Hello loopies,
Well, I promised you in my very first post that I would begin to share with you the highlights of the TNNA fashion show. I can give you an update on the 2008 fall and winter fashion outlook with one word: Outerwear, outerwear, outerwear! Well, technically that’s three words but not really. I saw beautiful jackets and coats in wools and blends. I saw gorgeous shawls and ruanas in light and heavy yarns. And there were sweaters with hoods and turtlenecks. Maybe the turtlenecks wouldn’t be really comfortable for some people (including yours truly) but the ones highlighted would be incredibly beautiful for all you other people who don’t suffer from hot flashes. And being the shop owner that I am I ordered many of these modern, current pattern while I was in Columbus. Sounds great doesn’t it??? Well, the patterns have started arriving in the shop and we’re working as fast as possible to get them into our computer system so you can purchase a copy.
Many people have asked me how I enjoyed the trade show this year. Well, I worked hard in Columbus this year. Most days the classes started at 8 am, and many people know I am not a morning person. But, I managed to make all my classes on time – okay, okay there was that one morning I had to buy a Mountain Dew before class (I needed the caffeine) and I was only 5 minutes late than. And two nights I didn’t get any dinner – only a pack of Cheezit and a Fanta orange. But one of my best memory was a class I was able to take with Margaret Radcliffe, yes, that Margaret Radcliffe. The class was on vareigated yarn and was soooo much fun. I might have to learn more knitting so I can take another knitting class next year.
I know – but I can dream can’t I.
Peggy
